Why the Grand Trip

2013 marks a banner year.  It is the year that our grandfather, Jan’s father, turns 90. No small feat, he wanted to mark it by spending time with his family.  His keen and intelligent wife, GrandA, decided to convince the family to spend a third of the year traveling the world with them, going to exotic places, learning about cultures, and most importantly, learning the family stories.

The anecdotes on these pages are those from the views of Jan, Sue (Jan’s sister-in-law and Grandpa’s dil), and Sue’s three daughters, Amanda, Jacquie, and Kenz.  While, not everyone is able to go the entire 4 months (in Amanda’s case, due to work, she is only spending a month with everyone), those able to travel even a little bit will have tales to tell and experiences to share.
